Yes, my Orthopedic Surgeon performed a procedure called a Tendon Transfer, which fixated my left ankle. It involved taking the tendons in the front of my foot being dis-connected and criss-crossed , then re-connected in the front and back of my ankle. This left my ankle fixated, somewhat, with little to no flexability. I was in my first cast 8 weeks. I then was put into another and given crutches to do some weight bearing. After 4 weeks I was given a walking boot and started physical therapy, 3 days a week for 3 months. It was a long road back to recovery, but Home Health was not needed. In the beginning I had family members that came in a helped me out when my husband was at work. But, when I got the second cast I was totally capable of taking care of myself. Oh, and as far as clothing fitting, it's all the same. Of course with the casts it was either shorts, skirts or dresses. Only thing that will be different with the anle being fixated is, that I have to take a little more time getting thru my pants leg. I need a larger shoe size because my left foot is larger now. I would wait alittle while and see if her husband takes up the slack,this may be just what it will take.He needs to learn responsibility,on the other hand don't let your sister go hungry because she is unable to work.She will be back ON her feet in 6 weeks or so. 5 years ago 1 person rated this as good This is what my folks and I came up with as well. And when we do give monetarily, it will directly paid to her car pmt or mortgage, or buying the groceries so she can't let her hubby spend it on non-essentials.
